17th Century Deed on Vellum
1825 Deed on Vellum transfer of 2 acres & 123 Perches of land in the Borough of Norristown, Montgomery County, in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania from Levi Pawling, Attorney & Wife (Elizabeth) to Johnathan Thomas for $1,000
 
Levi Pawling (July 25, 1773 – September 7, 1845) was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania.
 
Levi Pawling was born in Fatland, Pennsylvania, near Norristown. He was admitted to the bar in 1795 and practiced in Norristown and Philadelphia. He served as trustee of lands belonging to the University of Pennsylvania, and was appointed chairman of the commission to raise funds relative to lock navigation on the Schuylkill River in 1816.
 
Pawling was elected as a Federalist to the Fifteenth Congress. He was elected burgess of Norristown in 1818 and served as president of the board of directors of the Bank of Montgomery County. He died in Norristown in 1845. Interment in St. John's Protestant Episcopal Cemetery.
 
Unfolded it is 16 1/2" tall X 26 1/2" wide 
 
This is in good condition. Some darkening due to age where paper has been folded (see photo) There is some pencil writing on the closed cover portion of the deed. Additional notes This deed is ungraded and not certified. The official seals are all in place.
