Large size U.S. Notes consisted of 5 issues from 1862
to 1923. All series were titled "United States Note" except for the series of
1869 which were titled "Treasury Note" and the series of 1862-1863 which had no
title on the note. The wording of the obligation carried on the reverse of the
notes was changed several times during the entire issue.
